Threshold Training Cycle – Microcycle 2 – Saturday
8 mile run
8 Total minutes of Planks, Rotation of Front, Side, Side
This is the second long run that we have done in this training cycle, but don’t worry there will only be more from here. During this run, try to breath through your noes the whole time. If you feel like you are going to suffocate, you might want to slow down… a little.
Once you finish the run, immediately start your planks. You are going for 8 total minutes, you cannot rotate from the front to the side plank until you are about to hit your face on concrete, same goes for each rotation. If you need to take a rest go for it, But before you can, make sure you go to failure in the front position, failure to your left side, failure to your right side, and then back to your front then Rinse and repeat until you can’t anymore.
All of these are rather time consuming and can be a bit monotonous. This is a great time to reflect on everything you have done right this week and where you want to go from here. This is not a good time to think about all the things you need to do. It won’t do you any good and you cant work on it anyway.
Think about it like forced meditation.
